My Angle on the World I Live In

“We live in a fantasy world, a world of illusion. The great task in life is to find reality.” ¹ The famous British Novelist and Philosopher sums up my view on the reality we live in today. Using the word “reality” to describe my point of view on our world is highly ironic, and I will explain why in the next few lines.

In modern society as well as in human’s mentality, life is meant to be fully lived by the accomplishment of our own personal goals and dreams. Some people took it radically, and eventually forgot their love for others. They fell into a selfish world of power, money and even more power. In the light of the documentary Zeitgeist, these people are constantly seeking more power by trying to gain control over the majority; majority which are blindly manipulated by simply living their own life. While the influent individuals of this world are barely known by the general public, it is easy for them to fulfill their goals away from the spotlight. I’m guessing their plans aren’t the brightest ones, and that these people aren’t the nicest persons around. If they were, with the kind of power, money and influence they have, we’d have a utopia-like kind of world. The problem is that they don’t want things to change; what is happening now (whether good or bad) is profitable for their current situation.

I don’t like to call myself a paranoiac, or even less a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that the world we’re living in isn’t shown to us exactly as it is. If it were, we’d see people fight against it, a war against ourselves, disgusted by what we’ve done. So yes, I do believe that the world is an illusion, a fantasy world far from perfect, but that the concealed reality hides a darker truth.
