Here's a little bit about myself..
I hail from Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada and I'm currently studying a Joint Majors Degree in English and Psychology and a minor degree in French at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I have an innate passion for traveling and a deep interest in foreign cultures and world affairs.
In the past two years, I have traveled in 9 countries while taking up residence in Sydney, Australia where I worked with a company called Thomson Reuters. In my role as Webcast Production Manager, I organized and produced live corporate events for over 65 clients and traveled to Papua New Guinea to manage one of the first live webcasts to be broadcasted via satellite from a developing country.
With the help of Youth Challenge International, I wish to combine my passion of experiencing other cultures with my hope to contribute to the world in a meaningful, positive way. My volunteer position in Kenya this May will be the first program I have undertaken of this magnitude, where I will have a hands-on role in the community itself. I hope to use my knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to contribute as much as I can to my team so that we may benefit the economic, educational and overall development of the area of which I am becoming a part.
I'm pretty outgoing, laugh a lot, tell goofy jokes and like having a good time. I'm super excited for this opportunity and look forward to meeting like-minded, FUN people!
