I helped to organize the Canadian Urban Music Festival 2003. The org worked to raise funds to help Canadian musical talent. I was the event's coordinator (including graphic design, musical acts, art show, DJ tent, and fashion show) I serve on the Board of Directors of the Meal Exchange www.mealexchange.com. The mission of Meal Exchange is to develop engaged citizens of tomorrow by addressing local hunger today. Meal Exchange is organized exclusively for charitable purposes with aims and objectives to: -Donate food to registered charitable organizations and those in need. -Educate students about the root causes of hunger. -Create and involve students in volunteer opportunities with not-for-profit organizations that address hunger and hunger-related issues. -Identify and implement student solutions to hunger. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Bluewire. I am the art director for the not-for-profit organization. It is a Toronto based project which creates material that will inspire youth and help them achieve their goals. It is a project that creates a positive impact in the community helping young people gain access to politicians, influential business people, actors, community leaders. I do graphic design for The African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF). It is an independent non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives. AMREF defines the disadvantaged as people who suffer from high prevalence and severe impact of major health problems like malaria, HIV/AIDS, poor water and sanitation, lack of information about adolescent and reproductive health, and poor access to health care. I serve on the Board of Directors of Young Minds and XStone Project. Their projects include a film documentary about Youth: Our Cultural Exchange and how developing youth in war torn countries are using media and entertainment to make a difference. I was the fashion show coordinator for F.A.C.E of Fashion (www.face1.org). F.A.C.E. empowers families to succeed in financially supporting themselves and thus creating stability in the family unit. At the FACE® clothing Bank we provide the tools and skills necessary for women to obtain and retain employment. With these tools and encouragement that helps build their self-confidence, women see that they can succeed in making life for themselves and their children. FACE® is proud to lend a helping hand as these women gain independance and secure their financial future. Feel free to contact me if you are interested in any of these projects.
