Ahmed Kassem is from Egypt. He is 23 years old male, final year medical student. Ahmed has been working as a volunteer since 2002. Through his volunteering work, he managed and coordinated many projects. He is interested in self capacity building and gaining experience. He has been trained on advocacy, peer education and project management. He was able to update his skills, participate in national and international workshops and conferences. He joined IFMSA in 2003 and focused on educational projects, SRH and HIV/AIDS issues. In 2004, he became an advocate through "Global youth Partnerships – Egypt" project where he along with the team, was able to gain the political and financial support of ministry of education to establish five "Anti AIDS Clubs" in Mansoura. He attended the Y-PEER Regional Training in Tunisia in September 2005, and became one of the core team members in Egypt. He, along with the team, is managing the network that constitutes of different NGOs all over Egypt. He is co-designing a manual for peer educators which will be culturally appropriate to the Egyptian youth.
He had the honor to officially represent Egypt in the first "United Nations Global Youth Leadership Summit" in the UN Headquarter in October 2006, and now he is a United Nations Millennium Development Goals Youth Spokesperson in Egypt. Recently, he represented Y-PEER Network in "Oxfam International Youth Partnerships" in Sydney, October 2007, where he practiced and experienced about arts, cultures and sports and got a scope about other themes as indigenous rights, human rights, women empowerment and access to health services and education, and of course reinforced his knowledge and experience about SRH and HIV/AIDS and now he is an OIYP Action Partner for 2007-2010, after that he share in the 8th Y-PEER Advanced ToT in Peer Education , and now he is a focal point of the network in Egypt along with his colleagues in the core team. In the last month he coordinated 2 training workshops on Theatre based peer education in 2 cities in Upper Egypt.
