About me
Hayden has more than a decade of experience in education, social development and international organisations. As National Youth Participation Advisor Hayden advises the Ministry of Youth Development on youth engagement and social media, has previously been a consultant at UNESCO Bangkok on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and is experienced working in the field of international education after working for the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO.
Hayden is a recognised leader and governance expert in the NGO sector. An interest in the United Nations led Hayden to be a founding member of the United Nations Youth Association of New Zealand (now UN Youth New Zealand), and led that organisation in its early years before going on to be National President of the United Nations Association of New Zealand (UNANZ). Hayden is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (FRSA), previously serving on the Board of the RSA A+NZ and a member of the Institute of Directors of New Zealand (MInstD).
Hayden is actively engaged in the work of the Asia New Zealand Foundation through the Asia New Zealand Young Leaders Network building New Zealand's links with Asia. Hayden is a founding trustee of the New Zealand Youth Global Awareness Trust Board, a keen advocate and supporter of the Global Poverty Project and One Percent Collective and an advisor, mentor and friend to many young people in the NGO sector.
Hayden is an amateur photographer and art collector, enjoys great food and wine and likes to spend his down time actively relaxing in cafes and restaurants with friends, dreaming of travel to new places, and developing ideas for social enterprises.
