About Me

Gwewasang C. Martin is a senior Reproductive Health Expert Family Planning Clinician/Health Administrator, and Founder Director of Adele Reproductive Health and family planning a Community-Based Organisation in Cameroon. Gwewasang has over 11 years of experience working in sexual and reproductive health, family planning and HIV/AIDS programs. Gwewasang through his Organisation has developed and implemented many projects on sexual and reproductive health in rural communities in Cameroon. Through his organization Gwewasang served as the National Lead Agency (NLA) for Global Youth Service Day (GYSD), the largest youth service program in the world promoting family planning and HIV/AIDS issues.

Gwewasang worked as an Executive Staff of Cameroon National Association for Family Welfare (CAMNAFAW), a nonprofit organization an affiliate of IPPF, where he oversaw an extension of adolescent sexual health project to rural mudeka in 2000.

Gwewasang also worked as consultant in the 2003 - 2004 World Bank AIDS sponsored project in Cameroon in Ndian Division, where he oversaw the creation of 20 Local Aids Control Committees (LACCs) and Family Planning Focal (FPFP), that benefited a population of over 60.000 including those in slump areas. Gwewasang has developed a project “New Hope for the Underprivileged Grassroots Populations project in Cameroon” which has been published in the African Youth HIV/AIDS Best Practice Handbook put together by Act Alive, Development Partnership International and the Standing Committee in Reproductive Health of the International Federation of Medical Students Association.

Gwewasang is the Founder of the Youth Policy Group for Reproductive Health in Cameroon which attracted international interest and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA supported the project both technically, materially and financially in 2005/2006. This same project has been published by Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) Netherlands in bulletin 87 2006.

I speak English and French and have travelled extensively in Nigeria and United Kingdom.
