About me
Himakshi Piplani, 24, is a health and human rights organizer from India with over six years of activism and program experience in HIV and related issues, with a focus on young people. She has a formal education in law and is currently enrolled with the Delhi Bar.
Himakshi is familiar with HYLF’s grantmaking processes from participating on the 2010 global Community Review Panel, and was part of the first Peer Support Program for HYLF grantees. She also co-facilitated the 2009 Oslo Young Leaders Summit, which resulted in HYLF’s creation.
Himakshi most recently worked with UNODC’s Regional Office for South Asia as a technical consultant on a harm reduction & HIV portfolio, where she assisted on GFATM–India related implementation among other things.
At the community level, Himakshi has substantial experience on mobilizing university students though HIV peer-education work with The Wake Up Pune HIV Campaign in Pune, India. She has been involved in regional and global HIV advocacy through her two-year term as the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS’s Regional Focal Point for South Asia, and as a contributor to the aids2031 Programmatic Working Group.
Himakshi currently sits on the International Advisory Committee of Aids Fonds.
