 About Me |
I have had a yearning to travel and learn about other times and places from an early age. I received my B.A. in archaeology last fall. I have participated in fieldwork in Greece and Bermuda as well as my own country, and have relished every moment of coming into contact with new cultures both ancient and modern, from halfway around the world to my own "backyard". I am also interested in volunteer and community work, and was active with many organizations while at university. I am moving to China to teach for a year and stand all my preconceived notions (which I try in vain to avoid) on their head and see a part of the world I would seldom have a chance to visit, if I were to stay in school. I especially hope to volunteer in SE Asia during my teaching breaks. I plan to return to Canada and do my M.A. degree next year, and connect even more with volunteer organizations across the country. I am very interested in the way people and cultures express identity and the effects of both cultural exchange and modernization on social/ethnic identity.
