Our Venturers start businesses, civil society organizations and informal programs that address all kinds of social issues, including poverty, health, the elderly, the environment, education, diversity issues, and the arts. Youth Venture helps our Venturers through this process of designing and launching their ventures, providing guidance, how-to’s, and a process for designing and pitching a venture idea. Prior to becoming Youth Venture’s Staff, I was one of the five Directors of Prêmio FENEAD. My job was to travell around the country (Brazil), supporting Students' social programs, helping them to develop their projects. Prêmio FENEAD – Ação Nacional de Estudantes Universitários para Soluções Sociais (University Students Nacional Action for Social Solutions), is one of the most important FENEAD projects – Administration Students Nacional Federation, nationally coordinated by a group of students. Its aim is to show academics, or academic community as a whole, that they can and they must be part of the social changes ocurring in our society, for more social justice. That they can change society, and may have the opportunity to develop a proposal, showing how students, teachers, civil society organizations, companies and the government can join efforts to minimize injustice in our country. Some inspiring words from YV: The key to launching a social project is simple: you have to give yourself permission to do it. There are some people who will tell you that you can’t do it – that you’re not old enough or experienced enough, or you have other priorities. Don’t let it stop you. They’ve got their reasons – maybe they are telling you this because they didn’t give themselves permission to lead at a young age, and either they regret it or they still don’t see the potential they had – but their reasons don’t have to be your reasons.
