I'm currently in my last year of High School in the small town called St Andrews, New Brunswick. I have many interests, such as music, drama, and travel. I play tuba in the provincial youth orchestra, as well as in a Military Reserves Band and my high school band. I am currently a Venturer in Scouts Canada, and have been involved with Scouts since I was five years old. My main sport has been speed skating, and two years ago I made the Canada Games NB Long Track Speed Skating Team. I don't skate competitively anymore, but instead I coach. I have also become involved with high school theatre projects the last two years. The thing that got me hooked on international humanitarianism was an hour long seminar I had to present to my sociology class two years ago. The topic I chose was malaria, and it was quite a shocker when I read some of the articles about the disease. It made me want to help in any way could, so I looked up more and more issues that other people around the world deal with. Ever since then I've wanted to volunteer overseas before going to university and studying Human Rights or International Development. After I finish this project I'll be heading to Uganda/Kenya until April or so to continue volunteering.
