About Me |
My name is Ephantus from Nairobi Kenya. I believe young people have the strength, potential, passion and determination to tackle the many challenges that have dogged our world for generations. it is time we rise up to the occasion and change our world. I was raised up in Dandora which is one of the notorious slum in Nairobi. Dandora is commonly known for very high crime rate, street kids, prostitution, school drop outs and poverty among other social ills. It is also home to one of Africa's biggest dumping site which receives hundreds of unfiltered garbage daily. The dumping site was declared among one of the most polluted sites in the world. I got an opportunity to be sponsored when I was eleven years old through a Compassion International assisted project in our church and that gave me an opportunity in life. I am very thankful to Mr James McCullough from the UK who sponsored me for twelve years until I was able to stand on my two feet. He gave me a chance that not many people from Dandora had. I would probably be a street boy today or died of a police bullet in a robbery attempt if I had not gotten a chance in life through the Compassion project. Mr James McCullough cared enough to touch my life and thus changed my world and today I have dedicated my life to touching other peoples lives. I look forward to change the world. That may sounds intimidating and a huge task but I always remember that by changing somebodies life I will change their world.
My passion in life is to raise a new generation of leaders who will impact their communities in a positive way. I do this through an organization which I co - founded two years ago called Brooks of Hope.
At Brooks of Hope we seek to make a difference not just in our community but all over Africa. Although that sounds like a big task, our strategy is to do it a step at a time.
I welcome you to talk to me and we will share thoughts and ideas on how to make our world a better place. Thank you and always remember that we can change our world a step at a time by changing somebody's life. All we need to do is to love and care.
