About Me   About Me
I don’t know a lot, but I know that there are a lot of problems going on around the world.

I don’t understand war. How come, since the beginning of humanity, leaders, hungry for power, decided that the best way to achieve their dreams was to kill the people in their way? How come soldiers are ready to give their life for a country, for a piece of land? Don’t they see that the people on the other side of the line are just the same as them, humans? I really don’t understand how genocides as the holocaust and the Rwanda's Genocide have gone that far, because it seems to me that a lot more people were against it than people who were taking part of it. A lot of victims didn’t have the knowledge to put a break to it, but numbers of outsiders just closed their eyes.

I don’t understand why we don’t know about most of the wars happening presently in the world. Media are always focusing on one big drama and passing right through the others. Presently, it’s all about Haiti. It’s fresh news. Campaigns all over the world are organised to raise money to help Haitians, and it’s a good gesture, because they really are in need of help, but they’re not the only ones. Governments are giving money to help rebuilt Port-au-Prince, but they’re still asking a lot of countries in Africa to repay a debt that those countries have probably paid number of time in interests. Rich countries are giving a part of their G.D.P. to the poor countries, but the truth is that they’re enriching themselves with those poor countries. According to the philosopher Thomas Pogge, it is not our duty to help others, but it is our duty to stop harming them.

I don’t understand that, now that the environment is such a hot topic, there are still “Hummers” on the road. Have those Hummer’s drivers ever heard of global warming? I don’t understand either why a student bus pass costs nearly 60$ for a student, for a month. I think public transit should be much more available to reduce the number of cars on the roads. I don’t understand businesses that advocate the use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags, but that don’t recycle all the cardboard boxes they use. I don’t understand people who buy boxes of bottled water per week while there is water flowing from their taps.

I don’t understand… Do you?
