About Me   About Me
Self motivated and community action activist born 21 years ago in the Southern part of the African continent. Edwin, grew up to be a man of all...one born and growing to make life and life in reality and best. Having completed school in the year 1998, he took upon the first action to empower the community; and that was to join a Community News Company where he began writing as a community journalist at the age of 18. Having worked for a while he then obtained a chance to attend a Community Journalism Course under a sponsorship of the American Embassy (Swaziland office) sharpenning his goal to creat a working coverage of community action and development. In the next years he was able to work closer to the interest of young people (children & youth) and in that route was selected to represent young people in the documentation of a UNICEF/Swaziland Govt. programme on the Rights of the child.

A year later the UNDP office sponsored him as part of a delegation to the United States (LA) to attend for the very first time and the very first session, the Young General Assembly (an organization for children, by children). In attendence he moved for the advocacy to have the next session held in Africa, as the African States were stressfully being denied visas to attend and also ill resourced to care for the attendance expenses. The dream came true during the voting session and Swaziland was to be the next host country being the very first nation to host the Organization's Assembly after the adoption of its Charter.

Later in the same year Edwin represented his country in the International Youth Parliament in Sydney Australia, an international Parliament so great and successful. There he was sponsored by Community Aid Abroad Oxfarm and UNDP and made it for his state by returning back with better skills and an individual action plan to make positive change in the Swazi society.

In the last month of the year he was invited to take part in the Make Our World conference, but could not make it due to national assignments which were currently at hand. His absence was reported to have been missed by those who new him from previous events and were expecting him in the next event to be held possibly in Mexico.

The year 2001, was no difference in his life but instead more demanding as he was invited to be part of a Five-Year Country Programme of Cooperation between UNICEF & Govt. He was nominated into the Manzini Region Committee. His presence made it in representation of young people and he has since obtained a contract with UNICEF to document the National Programme. During the month of May 2001 he leaves the country, setting for Nairobi Kenya where he shall be sharing on the proceedings of the Community Action For Child Rights Programme and the Appreciative Inquiry Approach through which the Programme is being implemented.

At present Edwin also serves as a Deputy Junior Mayor of the Junior Council of the City of Manzini (Hub of Swaziland), an Executive Board Member of the National Council On Smoking Alcohol and Drugs and the Coordinator of the Young General Assembly Second session Preparation Team in Swaziland.

At the age of 21 he lives a life so responsible and independent, being there for himself and his family at all times through hard work and participation. His life led through from day to day in his house in one of the townships of Manzini City, and his personal office in the city.

His major goal being that of making it to the governing of his coutry's welbeing to change it to the best state in the African Continent, through fostering change for the young generations and in all communities.

Being involved, informed and inspired is what he believes has made him who he is today. A young men who moved all the way from a shy and secret life to the heights of a national and international active life for a better life for all.
