Armen Orujyan, PhD is Founder and Chairman of the Board of Athgo Corporation, a US nonprofit organization since 1999. For over a decade, Armen has been developing and providing entrepreneurial platforms for young people with leading global institutions. These efforts have included coordination with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs; UN NGO Section; UN University; UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States; UN Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development (UN GAID); World Intellectual Property Organization; the World Bank’s External Affairs Department; and a number of Governments both in developed and emerging countries.
Focusing on his expertise in nonprofit management, Armen has built on those strong international and governmental networks to establish support among the Fortune 100 firms such as Boeing, Dell, Intel Corporation, and Northrop Grumman; and cultivate partnerships with leading academic institutions and broader public sectors to advance entrepreneurial opportunity for Athgo’s youth stakeholders. Under his leadership, since 2003 Athgo has developed and is managing a strong network of over 100,000 young people worldwide. The United Nations acknowledges Armen’s dedication and Athgo’s unique position in offering young people opportunities to develop innovative business approaches that advance UN Millennium Development Goals; accordingly, in April 2008 the body appointed him the UN e-Leader (Ambassador) for Youth and ICTs.
Armen has served as a consultant for various US political campaigns, including Presidential. He remains involved in many national and international contests, and currently serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the UN GAID. Armen is also a certified presenter of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, former US Vice President Al Gore's Climate Project. Armen is invited and frequently speaks at international conferences about the importance and necessity of young people’s engagement in global affairs, including entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability and information and communication technology (ICT) advancement and development.
Armen earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in Political Science from UCLA and received his Master of Arts degree in International Studies as well as PhD in Political Science from Claremont Graduate University in California.
