About Me |
Shine G. Williams Bio
A highly motivated, team oriented individual with more than four years of advocacy and development work. Currently, I am involved with youth and children advocacy and development, research, training and providing services to promote the quality of children and young people’s lives in local communities who are economically and socially out of mainstream services and support.
Collaborative involvement with several trainings and studies related to social work and development issues, enhancing educational and community based development consulting; Also, I have trainings in computer operations (Ms Word, Ms Excel, Access, Networking) and building websites;
I possess enormous understanding of Liberia’s health delivery services and development sectors and how it underpins young people’s growth and development; Also, I have more than three years of experience assessing, involving and strengthening the capacity of local community groups on issues related to HIV/AIDS and development initiatives; recently I spent the last six (6) months on a panel helping to analyze the existing healthcare delivery services, a strategic plan by a coalition of youth organizations to ascertain the strengths and weaknesses, if any, of the current plan by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare specifically on the issue of combating HIV/AIDS in Liberia; spearheaded a major research in three counties (Grand Bassa, Margibi and Bong) coordinating a study analysis on the existing level of young people participation on HIV/AIDS matters; was an active participant in a stakeholders’ meeting on HIV/AIDS in which recommendation was made to government; led the establishment of Youth Against HIV/AIDS at the University of Liberia and the Fiamah Youth Network Against HIV/AIDS, a community based group aimed at providing awareness on HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases in that community; an engagement which led to changing attitudes to their sex lives - that is, the usage of condoms, and other precautions associated with the virus; I am also a creative and innovative small business entrepreneur who believes that technology and capacity enhancement is a major determinant to reduce poverty and societal inequalities in an increasing developing world, especially for low income countries;
