Who are we?
Think Youth Independent Association (T.Y.I.A.) was created Six years ago by three young Cameroonian students who wanted to make a change within their society. Recognizing that too little is being done to fight the threats and obstacles to development they decided to create their own association targeting the problems. Their focus lies on the youths within Limbe municipality.
Presently there are six members within the association and the work is being done on a volunteer basis. The realization of its projects is dependent on good will and external economical support.
Former projects executed by T.Y.I.A.:
- Youths for the fight against HIV/AIDS
In cooperation with the National Aids Control Committee T.Y.I.A. sensitized the Limbe community to adopt risk free behavior for the fight against HIV/AIDS.
- Soap and starch production for poverty alleviation amongst youths
Technical workshops where organized for 50 underprivileged youths, to enable them to generate income for their daily needs.
- Computer literacy program for underprivileged children
36 underprivileged children where educated on basic computer skills, to give them the chance to keep up with the modern technology.
– Youth Cultural Festival in the Fight against HIV/AIDS
594 youths were being sensitized on the prevention and awareness on HIV/AIDS pandemic.
The main sponsor of T.Y.I.A is the Swedish International Volunteers (www.siv.se)
