About Me   About Me
I was born in 1979, in the city of Orel, in the heart of Russia. In April 1993 my family moved to Israel where until summer 2006 I lived in Jaffa. Currently I reside in "centrally remote" Ithaca in upstate NY, where I am working on my doctoral studies.

After specializing in fine arts and computers in high school, I joined the academic reserves program and completed a BA in Economics in Tel-Aviv University. Later, I worked as a teaching assistant while completing my Masters' thesis in Communication Studies in Ben Gurion University of the Negev. Starting the Masters' with interest in media economics, my research agenda evolved and now, as I am moving into doctoral studies at Cornell, it is focusing on new media and information and communication technology (ICT). Particularly I am interested in institutional analysis of ICT adoption; specifically in what is labeled as 'digital divide' or 'digital inequality,' with a focus on developing countries.

Concurrently I continued to be involved in various voluntary activities starting with local municipal election, through "Perah" and Student Council in TAU, till the current "Human Network" initiative, which results from participation in the ITU Youth Forum. Although this may sound naive, I still believe that through knowledge and civil responsibility it is possible to make a change.

When not reading, writing or working, I experiment with cooking and practice Capoeira (a Brazilian martial art). From time to time, I manage to go hiking with friends and when "I will have the time", I hope to do a rock-climbing course and study additional languages.
