About Me   About Me
I am Dev Kumar Sunuwar. I am from the Sunuwar community of Nepal. Sunuwar is one of the Fifty nine Indigenous Peoples recognized by the Nepalese Government. I was a Student of Psychology and English Literature in the First 2 years of my University Career after the School Education, but Curiosity led me to work in Indigenous Voice Newspaper as a Reporter, Having been worked in the only-one newspaper that represents the Voice of the whole Nepalese Indigenous People of Nepal for 2 years, dragged me to study the Mass Communication and Journalism replicating the Psychology.

I found myself lucky enough to be aware of that why we the indigenous People are Religiously, Culturally, Educationally discriminated, Economically Marginalized and politically oppressed in this Global village, that is why, I have dared to make my career in the field of Mass Communication, and raise awareness about this poisonous issues that ruins the society, and attempt to make prosperous, competitive and peaceful Society.

Currently I am studying in last Year of diploma level in Mass Communication and Journalism and in English Literature, Working at "The Kathmandu Post" (English daily) Newspaper And "Y! Magazine" (bilingual) as an Investigative Journalist
I have been selected and given the three month long, extensive and exhaustive Training on Investigative Journalism by Center for Investigative Journalism of Nepal, Associated with Himal Association, which is one of the leading Media Organization in Nepal and South Asia.

With the Growing concept of Globalization, and realizing the truth that only raising the awareness alone couldn't bring any sign of change on Indigenous people's Youth, I have involved in the Various Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Youth Organizations and have reached to many Youth of Nepal.

I have been working as bridge between Indigenous People's Youth, Non-Indigenous Youth and other back-warded minorities Youth, rural and urban Youth to bridge the gap and create the Platform where next-Generation of Indigenous and Non-Indigenous, minorities and back-warded Youth gather and discuss about the Contemporary issues, their problems and come in consensus to bring positive change in society to live in, learn and exchange the skills, disseminating Reports and information, Conducting dialogues and talk-programs between each.

As an Executive Committee Member of Youth Initiative, a leading youth run and Youth led NGO, I am associated with activities regarding raising awareness on Civic Issues. I am playing a leading role, being elected as an Executive Board Member (convener/chairperson) of SMART CLUB, leading platform to practice leadership skills such as Public Speaking, Debating, Presenting Paper, Facilitating, moderating, interacting etc. and of "WRITER'S CLUB" where the overall writing skills are enhanced.

Being an Executive Committee member, I am handling the Responsibility of Foreign Secretary in Nepal Student's Federation of Indigenous Nationalities.

Apart from it, I am working deeply with an informal Indigenous youth group called "Unite Indigenous Youth and Students for Change (UNIYSC), which is a critical mass who think critically, care passionately and act dynamically and get along creatively about effecting change and be prepared own and to help others to be prepared for the contemporary world. Think for own-self and make another to think for their own about issues those diverse group raise, linked with various Activities regarding Youth Politics, networking to the Indigenous Youth, Research Activities, disseminating Reports and Information and trying to maximizing the opportunities of Nepalese indigenous Youth, as well as have been connected with the various programs such as awareness raising programs, conducting dialogue and talk-program, networking etc being an executive committee member of Sunuwar Student Society.
