About me
Daniel is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and has lived throughout Asia and Africa. He holds a BA with a double major in International Development (with distinction) with a focus in Economics and Business Administration from Menno Simons College (MSC) and the University of Winnipeg respectively.
In 1999, Daniel was awarded a scholarship through the Mennonite Central Committee, MSC and the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) for a placement in Pakistan with CRS. During his internship, he assisted in researching, planning, monitoring and implementing an extensive national micro-finance program culminating in a national workshop he organized of all CRS partners.
He has also worked for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank in Winnipeg as the economic policy research assistant working on the WTO Agreement on Agriculture and Food Security.
He has research experience working for his university professor on “Participatory Development,” and as an assistant researcher with the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy in Minneapolis focusing on identifying options to state trading enterprises for developing countries that “increase farmers’ marketing power within the global agriculture market.”
At present, he is working for the International Institute for Sustainable Development in Winnipeg, working on the business and sustainable development web site as the Business Communications Officer. He is also the Ringmaster for the Sustainability WebRing. His responsibilities include updating the web site, communicating with the private sector and other interested parties, and researching and preparing case studies on businesses seeking to follow social and environmental sustainable practices. Daniel’s internship is funded through the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
He is also working with TakingITGlobal to build a new ICT and Digital Divide site Please sign up in your individual profile and select "digital divide" as your interest. The official launch of this new site will be January 31, 2002 at the World Economic Forum in New York.
He has a basic knowledge of Urdu, and Bengali
