Crystal Walters, English and Linguistics Student at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
I believe everyone should be given equal opportunities to grow. I'm an advocate for literacy at my University and especially concerned with the rights of immigrants. I'm also an advocate for Oxfam and HIV/AIDS and support new healthcare initiatives in developing world countries. In 2003 I was glad to meet Nikki Rideout poster girl for the Agape Children's Home for HIV/Aids. This experience showed me the importance of drive not just in charity but everyday. I hope to see awareness raised about this disease and that people living with HIV and AIDS will see positive changes in their lives. I've also volunteered with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Arithritis Society, the Diabetes Association and the Student Volunteer Bureau.
