About Me

I work in Community Services and Development in Local Government as a Project Officer/Event Coordinator. I've worked on projects in a number of areas including crime prevention, settlement services for migrants and refugees, community transport, sustainability, youth and coordinate a number of community events and activities to encourage community participation.

I've been in the job now for a few years haven't yet completed any formal education in this field, which puts me in a very unusual position. I'm currently studying a certificate in Community Development and will begin a degree in Social Science and Psychology in 2008 (which I deferred at the beginning of this year).

Working in Local Government has shown me the immense power that everyday people have and yet many don't realise.

I'm here to learn about other peoples experiences and how they are effecting change in this small but hugely complex world. Each day I realise more and more how little I know and how much I have to learn.

My particular intersts are of course community development, engagement and participation but I'm facinated by all issues that have social implications.

Outside of work I'm a Rhythmic Gymnastics coach (which takes up a lot of my spare time). I enjoy relaxing by the beach, spending time with my family and friends, going for long walks and reading long novels.
