About me
Background: Founded in January 2001 and registered in August 2001, the Batonga Foundation is a non governmental organization which is dedicated to eradicate poverty in Zambia by developing and using appropriate technology demonstrating results, sharing knowledge and influencing others to reduce poverty through economic empowerment of disadvantaged families of our communities especially that of young people.
Our programming focus on disadvantaged urban and rural young women and youth in Southern Province of Zambia with a focus on Gwembe, Choma and Sinazongwe Districts.
Vision: A well informed, empowered and responsive community, able to deal with health problems, hunger and poverty.
Mission: To eradicate poverty and hunger in Zambia by developing and using appropriate technology demonstrating results, sharing knowledge and influencing others
Our Ambition: To become the leading local authority on the use of technology to reduce poverty and hunger in Zambia
Our Core Principles
1. People Centered
Our work with technology is people-centered. It concentrates on what maters most to the people with whom we work, respect their rights and support their own effort to improve the quality of their lives.
2. Working in partnership
People living in poverty drive their own development. Batonga Foundation helps them to get access to information, knowledge and options and derive solutions to their problems.

The aims and objectives of Batonga Foundation are:
To source, collect, collate and disseminate information on pressing issues of today so as to enable a culture of sustainable agriculture development directed at alleviating poverty and effecting the positive change we want to see in the world;
To formulate, monitor and implement viable and low-cost action-oriented projects to solve some of the nudging problems in our society with the aim of realizing a better world;
To advocate for youth and young women participation and development in Zambia and worldwide and to participate in relevant youth and women-oriented development initiatives.
Increase community capacity towards sustainable economic development especially among women and young people who are economically marginalized.
