Aya,20, is an adoptee, Native American, European and Judeo-Christian based in the US. She describes her artistic self as an undercover shaman/osteopathic doctor trying to treat and heal people as a whole. Poverty is a prominent theme throughout her writing. She is a Muslim convert. She is part of Project Ijtihad; an organization spearheaded by Irshad Manji-- which is a movement that encourages and sheds light on Islam's own tradition of critical thinking and debate.
