About me
Cristina is an anthropologist specializing in Human Rights, and expects to receive her BA in those subjects in the coming months, as well as to start an MA in Human Security and Peacebuilding.
Cristina has worked for the Canadian International Development Agency, as a human rights researcher to a Canadian Senator, as an election campaign manager, and for the UN Refugee Agency in a refugee camp in Kenya as well as in Ottawa.
She is a National Spokesperson for the Air Cadet League of Canada, having worked with the organization for 8 years, and has obtained her pilot's license on scholarship - an interest she maintains by flying small aircraft.
Cristina has also been a Youth Representative to CIOFF (Cultural Olympics), World Peace Emissary to the UNDP, and Honorary Ambassador to PLAN International. In 2001, she was Miss Universe Canada.
Cristina is a travel addict and is allergic to package vacations. She has walked on fire (literally), galloped horses bareback on the beaches of Normandy, and has sliced through a stack of roof tiles with her bare hand.
Her passion is Human Security and Human Rights. As an anthropologist, life is about getting in other people's shoes and understanding the dynamics of their lives. And understanding how different people, personalities, groups, and cultures interact is critical to creating and keeping the peace.
Interests not on the list include
- The anthropology of consciousness,
- Environmental architecture,
- Flying small aircraft
- Ballroom dancing
