About me
Our visions to a more sustainable world:
- Move towards a plastic-free, limited-waste society
- Convert to hemp "plastic" instead of what we use now for more products
- Educate people about both the impacts of pollution in the air, water, and land all around Canada, was well as how they can live a sustainable lifestyle to reduce their carbon footprint
What do we plan on doing:
- Recycle, compost, and reuse to reduce to waste we put into the dump
- Convert to using sustainable alternatives to plastic products, such as metal straws
- Educate our school on pollution in the ocean as we do not learn much about it due to not experiencing it firsthand
How our personal history affects our views on a sustainable enviroment
- Our city has a compost program, similar to how a garbage truck picks up garbage, which encourages us and others to compost and think about the impact of food waste
- In the North, we are largely influenced by Indigenous peoples and their connection to the land, which taught us quite a bit about how we can protect the land we live on
- As we are both swimmers we care about the water and have done numerous open water swims where we have seen the consequences of pollution in our lake and oceans
Our step to eliminate plastic:
-challenge our class and ourselves to live plastic straw free for a month by using a sustainable alternative such as metal straws
