Hi everyone. My name is Alex Jameson. I am from Vancouver, BC. I graduated from UBC in 2005 with a BA in political science. After grad, I travelled, worked, and lived in Australia for the good part of a year. I also visited Fiji. It was in Fiji that my interest in international development was sparked. I visited a small village, that was completely self-sufficient and full of friendly interesting people. The village was certainly impoverished by Canadian standards, but if you asked the people, which I did, there was little want expressed, but pride in what they had and could share. This was my first real experience in the developing world, and it hit me that this was the type of world that everyone should have access to. Hope replacing desperation.
Just some thoughts. I am going to Ethiopia June with YCI and I am super excited.
